Production Machine Operator / Assembly Operator

2nd Shift 6:45 p.m. - 7 a.m.

Marietta, GA

Pay $17-$18 per hour

Position Summary

The Production Operator / Assembly Operator is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations through machine operation, material handling, assembly support, quality inspection, packaging, and inventory movement activities. This position ensures the efficient flow of production by maintaining equipment, replenishing materials, performing inspections, and supporting production goals while adhering to all company safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and be able to work a rotating schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts, 3 days on and 3 days off.

  • Overtime may be required based on production needs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production & Machine Operations

  • Sort, inspect, and pack products according to quality specifications and production requirements.
  • Load and unload products into and from annealing ovens requiring processing.
  • Maintain machine operation by keeping machines supplied with the correct containers, trays, and materials.
  • Exchange full collection containers and trays with empty containers in a timely manner to prevent overflow and production interruptions.
  • Respond to machine alarms and perform machine restarts after receiving required certification.
  • Perform machine startup and shutdown procedures after receiving required certification.
  • Conduct daily machine inspections and complete all required checklists and documentation.
  • Keep supervisors informed of equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, safety issues, and production problems.

Material Handling

  • Replenish material bins and complete associated paperwork when required.
  • Monitor grinder operations throughout the shift to ensure grinder pans do not back up.
  • Maintain scrap control procedures and ensure proper disposal of scrap materials.
  • Load, unload, and input work-in-process (WIP) inventory and components using scanners and tracking systems.
  • Maintain accurate production records and inventory transactions.

Assembly Operations

  • Operate assembly machines and equipment as assigned.
  • Inspect components and finished parts before packaging to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Complete assembly machine check sheets and required production documentation.
  • Maintain assembly equipment and assembly work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow all assembly procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements.

Housekeeping & Safety

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe production, assembly, and material storage areas.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Participate in safety, quality, and production improvement initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in other production, assembly, warehouse, or material handling areas as directed by management.
  • Perform other specific duties as requested, directed, and assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1-3+ years of experience in a small to mid-sized manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in production, material handling, or assembly operations.
  • Ability to support machine operations and respond to basic equipment needs.
  • Experience with product inspection, packaging, and quality control processes.
  • Experience using barcode scanners and tracking work-in-process (WIP) inventory.
  • Ability to complete production reports, inspection sheets, and other required documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout a 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work a rotating 3-days-on, 3-days-off schedule.

Preferred

  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Previous machine operation experience.
  • Previous assembly equipment operation experience.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift and move materials as required by the position.
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and machinery.
