Oilfield Safety Specialist (HSE Coordinator)
Job Summary
The Oilfield Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment in oilfield operations. This position ensures compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and industry safety standards. The Safety Specialist works closely with field personnel, supervisors, contractors, and management to identify hazards, reduce risks, and prevent incidents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct regular field safety inspections and audits of drilling, completion, production, and service operations.

Monitor compliance with company safety policies and procedures.

Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reviews and assist crews in hazard identification.

Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events.

Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions.

Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.

Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Conduct new employee safety orientations.

Assist with emergency response planning and drills.

Maintain OSHA, DOT, and environmental compliance records.

Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance.

Identify unsafe conditions and recommend corrective measures.

Track and report key safety performance indicators.

Promote a positive safety culture throughout field operations.

Participate in root cause analyses and corrective action programs.
Qualifications
Education

High school diploma or GED required.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
Experience

3+ years of oilfield, drilling, production, construction, or industrial safety experience preferred.

Experience working in upstream oil and gas operations highly desirable.
Certifications (Preferred)

OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry.

H2S Alive or equivalent.

First Aid/CPR certification.

PEC SafeLand or SafeGulf.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of OSHA regulations.

Knowledge of oilfield hazards and safe work practices.

Ability to conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work independently in remote field locations.
Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Frequent walking on uneven terrain.

Ability to climb ladders and stairs.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, FR clothing, steel-toe boots, and respiratory protection when required.
