Express Employment Professionals is seeking a motivated and experienced Facilities Forman for a local client to supervise the daily maintenance, repair, and operation of City-owned buildings, structures, and facilities. This hands-on leadership position oversees a team of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance personnel while coordinating work involving carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and general building maintenance. The ideal candidate is an organized leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple maintenance projects while ensuring City facilities remain safe, functional, and well maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, assign, supervise, and participate in the maintenance and repair of City buildings and facilities.
  • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance employees while promoting a safe, productive, and professional work environment.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Conduct facility inspections and coordinate corrective maintenance as needed.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate maintenance projects and oversee contractor performance when applicable.
  • Respond to customer concerns, resolve maintenance issues, and prepare work orders.
  • Utilize electronic work order systems and other technology to improve efficiency and response times.
  • Assist with carpentry projects, office furniture installations, and other maintenance-related assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in building construction and facility maintenance.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of commercial building maintenance and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience managing maintenance projects and service contracts.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and occupational hazards.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to organize work crews and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computerized maintenance or financial software.
  • Experience with Tyler Technologies software is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications

Required

  • Valid Florida Driver License with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred

  • Florida Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL).
