Facilities Maintenance Division Manager

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced and motivated Facilities Maintenance Division Manager for a prominent local municipality to lead the maintenance, construction, repair, and custodial operations for City-owned buildings, parks, and related facilities. This leadership position is responsible for planning, directing, organizing, and overseeing division operations while ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and well maintained. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, supervise personnel, manage budgets, coordinate contractors, and ensure the efficient delivery of facilities maintenance services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise the daily operations of the Facilities Maintenance Division.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee construction, maintenance, repair, and custodial activities for City facilities and parks.
  • Develop work plans, assign projects, issue work orders, and monitor projects through completion.
  • Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and construction plans.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate staffing and facility support for special events.
  • Supervise, coach, evaluate, and develop division employees.
  • Administer corrective and disciplinary actions when appropriate.
  • Purchase materials and supplies using the City's electronic procurement system.
  • Monitor division expenditures and assist in preparing and managing the annual operating budget.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and responses to information requests.
  • Attend meetings with City officials, contractors, and community stakeholders.
  • Respond to citizen inquiries and resolve complaints in a professional and timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building maintenance methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, project management, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of plan review and blueprint interpretation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel management experience.
  • Strong organizational, budgeting, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, contractors, vendors, and the public.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to respond professionally to citizen concerns.

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Construction Management or a closely related field.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Florida Driver License required.
  • Florida Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred.
