Accounting Clerk/Bookkeeper
Position Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and collaborative Accounting Professional to join our manufacturing team. This role is ideal for someone with practical cost accounting experience who enjoys working in a team environment and contributing to ongoing improvements in costing and accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
● Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and support daily accounting operations
● Take an active role in cost accounting, including:
○ Product costing and cost structure analysis
○ Inventory tracking and valuation
○ Variance analysis (materials, labor, overhead)
● Support the enhancement and consistency of costing processes and reporting
● Prepare month-end close schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations, with ability to work independently and provide outputs for review
● Assist with tax and regulatory filings and support preparation of working papers for review
● Perform inventory reconciliations and assist with physical inventory counts
● Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks etc.
● Process payroll using Payworks
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, operations) to improve cost tracking
● Assist in improving accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls
● Assist with internal and external audits
● Support ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
Key Qualifications
● 2–5 years of accounting experience, with hands-on exposure to cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
● Solid understanding of product costing, inventory, and variance analysis
● Experience supporting or preparing month-end close and basic tax filings
● Ability to prepare working files independently with good accuracy, for review
● Comfortable handling both transactional accounting tasks (AP, data entry, reconciliations) and analytical work
● Hands-on, detail-oriented, and well-organized, with strong ownership of work
● Strong learning ability and self-motivation, with a proactive approach
● Strong Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data organization)
● Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
● Team-oriented, practical, and adaptable in a growing environment
● Experience with QuickBooks and/or Payworks is an asset
● Fluent in English; Mandarin is a strong asset
● Able to work on-site in Cambridge, ON
