Position Title: Grounds and Maintenance Assistant
Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
Location: Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift
Hours: Full-Time (Weather Dependent)
Weekend Work: Not Required
Holidays: No company-approved holidays worked

Position Summary

The Grounds and Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the grounds crew in maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, and safety of cemetery property. Duties include mowing, trimming, landscaping, grounds cleanup, monument cleaning, and general maintenance tasks. This position works primarily outdoors and requires the ability to perform physical labor in varying weather conditions.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• No Saturdays or Sundays
• No company-approved holidays
• Work schedules may be adjusted during periods of continuous rain or severe weather conditions

Dress Code

Employees must maintain a clean and professional appearance. Acceptable attire includes:

• Jeans or work pants without rips or tears
• Shirts, t-shirts, caps, or hats that are free of offensive language, images, or graphics
• Appropriate work footwear for outdoor environments

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Report safety concerns and hazards to management immediately.
• Assist with maintaining cemetery grounds and landscaping.
• Operate lawn care and grounds maintenance equipment safely.
• Mow grass, edge, weed-eat, prune shrubs, and trim trees.
• Plant, seed, fertilize, and maintain landscape areas.
• Apply pesticides and herbicides as directed and in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Perform general grounds cleanup, including removing debris and litter.
• Clean mausoleums, monuments, memorial markers, and other cemetery features.
• Wash and maintain company vehicles and equipment as needed.
• Keep maintenance and shop areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Assist supervisors with completing assigned projects according to established procedures.
• Perform other grounds and maintenance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Candidates with some high school education and relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

• Groundskeeping, landscaping, maintenance, or general labor experience preferred.
• Experience operating lawn care equipment is a plus.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and power equipment.

• Ability to climb ladders and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
