Our client in the Des Moines area is looking for a Rough Carpenter!

Are you an experienced carpenter who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment? We are seeking dependable Rough Carpenters to help support active commercial construction projects by building temporary structures, assisting with framing, and maintaining a safe and organized job site.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, install, and remove temporary stairs, ramps, railings, bracing, and other job-site structures.
• Perform rough framing, blocking, and other carpentry tasks to support ongoing construction.
• Measure, cut, and assemble materials using hand and power tools.
• Inspect temporary structures to ensure they are safe, stable, and meet job-site requirements.
• Load, unload, and stage materials for daily work.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with all safety standards.
• Assist with general labor duties and support other trades as project needs change.

Qualifications

• Previous rough carpentry or commercial construction experience required.
• Proficient with hand and power tools, including circular saws, chop saws, nail guns, drills, and levels.
• Ability to read basic construction drawings and follow verbal instructions.
• Strong measuring, layout, and material handling skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA/job-site safety practices and proper PPE usage.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work on active construction sites.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Schedule & Pay

• Pay: $18.00-$22.00/hour, based on experience
• Full-time hours
• Overtime may be available depending on project needs
