Located in Yreka, CA

Salary: $30.00 per hour

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, safety-first Class B CDL Driver to operate a commercial Water Tender for a local client in the Yreka area. Operating strictly on a night shift, you will be responsible for filling, transporting, and discharging massive water payloads to support local outland projects, wildfire suppression support, or rural infrastructure. This role requires navigating dark, winding, unpaved, or mountainous terrain safely while dealing with the physics of shifting liquid surges, earning a highly competitive $30.00/hr
Key Responsibilities
  • Water Tender Operations: Safely operate a Class B commercial water tender (tanker truck), managing water levels and understanding the weight distribution of surging liquid loads.
  • Tactical Night Driving: Navigate low-visibility rural highways, unpaved logging roads, and outland fire-access lines under overnight conditions.
  • Drafting & Pumping: Manage onboard PTO pumps, auxiliary engines, and gravity dump chutes. Efficiently hook up to fire hydrants, portable folding tanks, or designated rural drafting sources to fill and discharge water.
  • Rigorous Safety Compliance: Conduct extensive pre- and post-trip DOT inspections, focusing heavily on tank baffles, valves, air brakes, tire traction, and high-powered night scene illumination.
  • Autonomy & Communication: Maintain steady radio or digital contact with dispatch or field crews while working independently through the night in remote areas with spotty cell reception.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Licensing: Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Tank Endorsement (N) (Required).
  • Brake System: Air Brakes Endorsement (L) is mandatory due to the weight class of heavy water hauling rigs.
  • Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of commercial driving experience, ideally with heavy tankers or liquid surge management in rural, dark, or mountainous terrain.
  • Medical Clearances: Active DOT Medical Card.
  • Overnight Suitability: Exceptional night vision and proven stamina to maintain high focus during overnight shifts.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and pull heavy, muddy drafting hoses (up to 50–75 lbs) and work outdoors in dark, challenging weather conditions.
  • Clearances: Clean DMV driving record and ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screening.

  • Premium Local Wages: Earn a guaranteed $30.00/hr.
