Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Hull Welder to join our shipbuilding team. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience welding aluminum and carbon steel in a shipyard or boatbuilding environment. This position requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, perform high-quality welds in all positions, and maintain strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform welding of aluminum and carbon steel components used in vessel and hull construction.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications to accurately complete assigned work.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and related tools.
  • Produce clean, consistent welds with proper heat distribution and bead appearance.
  • Perform tack welding and fit-up activities as required.
  • Weld in all positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead/uphill applications.
  • Inspect completed welds and repair defective welds as needed to meet quality standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools, including tape measures, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Safely operate power tools and equipment while complying with all company and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, inspectors, and team members to meet production goals and quality expectations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of welding experience in the shipbuilding or boatbuilding industry.
  • Proficient in welding both aluminum and carbon steel.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Strong math skills and the ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to repair defective welds and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Strong work ethic, effective communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team.

Testing Requirements

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment mock weld test.
  • Must be able to pass a 3G and 4G Structural Plate Welding Test within 90 days of employment, including a bend test.
