Furniture Pickup & Salvage Operations Assistant

 

Seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to assist with furniture donation pickups, retail operations, and salvage processing in Sevierville, TN. This is a physically active position that requires strong customer service skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Pick up donated furniture and household items throughout the local area.
  • Safely load and unload furniture, appliances, and donated merchandise from homes, businesses, and donation sites.
  • Handle donated items carefully to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with donors and customers.
  • Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise into their vehicles.
  • Unload incoming donations at the store.
  • Organize, stock, move, and display merchandise throughout the sales floor.
  • Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties inside and outside the facility.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Sort and process salvage materials, including clothing, shoes, purses, linens, and other textile items.
  • Load materials into baling and processing equipment according to established procedures.
  • Assist with staging, organizing, and preparing salvage bales for shipment.
  • Help load completed salvage shipments into trailers while following safety procedures.
  • Support warehouse operations and maintain cleanliness in work areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull furniture and donated items weighing 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, and similar equipment.
  • Ability to work in warehouse and loading dock environments.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in moving, furniture delivery, warehouse operations, retail, or thrift store environments is a plus but not required.
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
