Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Accountant for a manufacturing company in Wichita Falls, TX. This position is responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions, analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, manufacturing accounting experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports
• Monitor manufacturing costs, labor expenses, overhead allocations, and material usage
• Conduct cost variance analysis and provide recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency
• Maintain and update standard costs within the ERP system
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to inventory and cost of goods sold
• Perform general ledger accounting functions and account reconciliations
• Analyze cycle count results and inventory discrepancies
• Develop and maintain internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting processes
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing required reports and documentation
• Support product pricing analysis and updates
• Partner with operations, production, and management teams to improve financial performance
• Prepare financial reports and analysis for management decision-making

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with standard costing methodologies
• Background in lean manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of inventory control and supply chain processes
• Advanced data analysis and financial reporting skills
• Continuous improvement mindset and process optimization experience
