We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Shipping, Receiving & Material Handling Specialist to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring materials are received, tracked, stored, staged, and shipped accurately and efficiently to support our production operations.

The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment and is comfortable handling structural steel, plate, pipe, and other heavy materials. If you take pride in organization, safety, and keeping operations running smoothly, we'd like to hear from you.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Receiving & Inventory Control

  • Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Inspect incoming shipments for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate material identification and traceability throughout the facility.
  • Organize and store materials in designated locations for efficient retrieval.
  • Assist with inventory counts and inventory control activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of received and issued materials.

Shipping & Logistics

  • Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation.
  • Verify outgoing materials and equipment against shipping requirements.
  • Stage completed fabrication projects and materials for pickup or shipment.
  • Coordinate with shop personnel to ensure shipments are prepared and loaded on schedule.

Material Handling

  • Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
  • Move steel plate, structural steel, pipe, fabricated assemblies, and other materials throughout the facility.
  • Stage materials for fabrication, production, and project needs.
  • Support production teams by ensuring materials are available when and where they are needed.
  • Assist with general shop support duties as required.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Purchasing, Production, Project Management, and Shop Personnel to support project schedules and material requirements.
  • Communicate material shortages, delivery concerns, and inventory discrepancies promptly.
  • Contribute to maintaining an organized, productive, and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or steel processing environment preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes is required.
  • Ability to safely handle structural steel, steel plate, pipe, and other heavy materials.
  • Ability to read and understand shipping documents, packing slips, material tags, and receiving paperwork.
  • Basic computer skills are a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and committed to quality work.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work around heavy equipment throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely perform material handling activities in a fast-paced environment.
