Position Summary

The Contents Inventory Specialist is responsible for documenting, packing, cleaning, and organizing personal belongings from homes affected by fire or other disasters. This role requires strong attention to detail, compassion, and the ability to work efficiently in environments where items must be carefully cataloged, transported, restored, and returned. The specialist will use digital tools, specialized cleaning equipment, and safe handling techniques to ensure accurate inventory management and high-quality restoration of customer belongings.

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Digitally photograph, tag, and document items using tablet-based inventory software
• Accurately categorize items as salvageable, non-salvageable, or requiring specialty restoration
• Maintain strict chain-of-custody records for all boxed and stored items
• Safely pack, wrap, label, and load personal property for transport
• Assist with unloading and organizing items at the cleaning facility
• Perform detailed cleaning of soot- and smoke-damaged items using restoration tools and chemicals
• Operate ultrasonic cleaning equipment for hard goods
• Place items in ozone or hydroxyl chambers for odor removal
• Return restored items to customers’ homes and place them in their original locations
• Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE in fire-damaged environments

Qualifications 

• Prior experience in moving, packing, warehousing, or restoration preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to use tablets, take clear photos, and learn inventory software
• Excellent communication, professionalism, and empathy when working with customers
• Ability to lift and carry 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license with a clean, insurable driving record
• Ability to pass a background check
