Our client, a well-established national construction company with a presence in the Fletcher/Arden area, is seeking a Certified Payroll Assistant to join their team. This role is heavily focused on certified payroll for government contracts, with only light HR administrative support.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is extremely detail-oriented, strong in Excel, and experienced in compliance-driven payroll environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Process and manage certified payroll for government-funded construction projects

• Ensure payroll is accurate and compliant with federal and state labor requirements

• Maintain and audit payroll records and supporting documentation

• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports

• Use Excel extensively to track, reconcile, and report payroll data

• Respond to payroll compliance requests and audit inquiries

• Provide light HR administrative support as needed (employee records, basic documentation)

What They’re Looking For

• Payroll experience required (certified payroll experience strongly preferred)

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus and will impact pay, but is not required

• Advanced Excel skills required

• Extremely detail-oriented and organized

• Experience working in a compliance-heavy or government contract environment is a big plus

• Strong Microsoft Office skills

• Professional, reliable, and able to handle sensitive information confidentially
