Receiving Clerk / Inventory Control Specialist
Position Summary
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate receiving, inspection, storage, distribution, and inventory control of all raw materials, production supplies, and warehouse inventory. This position ensures inventory accuracy, maintains appropriate stock levels to support production, coordinates incoming shipments, and works closely with Purchasing, Production, and Shipping to ensure materials are available when needed. The Receiving Clerk is responsible for maintaining an organized warehouse, supporting production operations, and ensuring all inventory transactions are accurately recorded while following company safety and quality standards.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving Operations
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, products, and extrusion racks from vendors using a forklift.
- Compare received materials with purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
- Complete and process all receiving documentation accurately and distribute paperwork to the appropriate departments.
- Report shortages, damages, discrepancies, or overages immediately to the Purchasing Department.
- Coordinate and file freight claims for damaged shipments when necessary.
- Ensure all incoming materials are properly identified, labeled, and stored in designated locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through physical counts and inventory management system transactions.
- Perform cycle counts and monthly physical inventories.
- Process inventory adjustments, transfers, consolidations, and inventory transactions.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify Purchasing when materials reach reorder points.
- Work closely with Purchasing and Management to maintain accurate inventory levels and support Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Ensure all inventory is stored in its assigned location and maintain organized warehouse and stockroom areas.
- Pull materials and fulfill production transfer requests and requisitions.
- Deliver materials to production staging areas and workstations in a timely manner.
- Restock production areas to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Stage extrusions for production equipment, including PIP and strut machines.
- Position raw materials at production saws and other designated work areas.
- Pull stock materials for customer orders and properly label and stage them for production.
- Maintain the stockroom, parts cage, and raw material storage areas in an organized, clean, and safe condition.
- Ensure extrusion racks and all stored materials remain properly organized and easily accessible.
- Ensure extrusions are placed on properly labeled carts or racks by job to minimize unnecessary handling and improve efficiency.
- Distribute received materials and supplies to the appropriate departments.
- Pull inventory and supplies requested by department supervisors.
- Maintain accurate records of material distribution throughout the facility.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in receiving, warehouse operations, inventory control, or manufacturing preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management or ERP/MRP systems preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
- Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
- Work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
