Job Title: Senior Accountant | Government and Public Sector Finance

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 8am -5:30pm (or 7:30am - 5pm) – 9.5 hours with unpaid ½ hour lunch break – 9 hours of pay per day

Pay: $35 per hour

Description:
Our client is looking for a Senior Accounting Technician to handle complex accounting tasks across payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions. This role maintains accurate financial records, performs reconciliations, supports reporting, and ensures compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Process and reconcile accounting transactions, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger entries
• Maintain and balance financial records and prepare journal entries
• Review invoices, timesheets, and related documents for accuracy and compliance
• Reconcile accounts and bank statements; resolve discrepancies
• Assist with financial reporting and year-end audit support
• Support accounting systems and provide guidance to staff on procedures

Qualifications or Requirements:

• High school diploma plus accounting/finance coursework
• 3+ years of accounting or financial recordkeeping experience in a government setting
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and reconciliation practices
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office
