Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Metal Polisher/Grinder in the Jamestown/Lakewood Area. This position requires high attention to detail. Polish parts using machines for a variety of metals. Responsible to finish work pieces that must show high surface quality (e.g., low surface roughness) creating a smooth and shiny surface by rubbing it, under the direct supervision of the Production Supervisor. A strong preference will be given to applicants who have experience polishing various types of metal with air and hand tools.
Tasks
- Operate polishing and buffing equipment to consistently obtain desired finish and quality standards on manufactured metal parts. Correct defects or prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
- Select wheels, abrasives, and equipment best suited for type of job.
- Apply and manipulate wheels, dressings, and abrasives exercising proper pressure and duration to polish, grind welds, and buff using care to maintain contours, radii, close dimensions, and relative shape.
- Polish all stock parts and specials in all materials.
- Ensure work meets quality standards and is performed according to established procedures. Report problems, defects, malfunctions, concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to the Production Supervisor.
- Finish the assigned work in the allotted time and maintain production levels while performing all work in a safe and efficient manner. Comply with safety regulations.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas, as well as appropriate housekeeping and safety standards within the department and plant.
This position can grow within the company. It is Monday – Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm with a good possibility of overtime. Starting pay is $17-$18/hr.
