A well-established, locally owned fleet maintenance company in New Lenox is seeking an experienced and dependable Mobile Reefer Mechanic to join its growing team. This position involves providing mobile diagnostic, maintenance, and repair services for refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration units, along with occasional in-shop work.

We are looking for a self-motivated technician who can work independently and is flexible with work hours. Candidates who are available for afternoon and evening service calls when needed are highly preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain refrigerated trailers and transport refrigeration units.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on reefer equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, fuel, and refrigeration system issues.
• Service and repair refrigeration components, controls, compressors, and related equipment.
• Respond to mobile service calls and perform repairs at customer locations.
• Complete accurate documentation of repairs and maintenance performed.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment is operating efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized mobile work vehicle and shop area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and industry regulations.
• Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management.

Qualifications

• Previous reefer mechanic experience is required.
• Experience working on Thermo King, Carrier, or similar transport refrigeration units is preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and diesel systems.
• Ability to work independently in a mobile service environment.
• Dependable, professional, and customer-service oriented.
• Flexible with work hours, especially for afternoon and evening service needs.
• Must successfully answer pre-screening technical and experience-based questions before being considered for an onsite interview.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.
• Clean driving record required.
• Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be conducted.
• Must pass all pre-screening requirements before an onsite interview is scheduled.
• Ability to lift tools, parts, and equipment as required.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must have verifiable reefer repair experience.
