Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Saw Operator for a local machining and fabrication company. This is not an internal Express position.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with metal materials, and able to follow blueprints and precise measurements. The Saw Operator will prepare and cut materials to specification while maintaining quality, safety, and production efficiency.

Job Duties

• Read blueprints, cut lists, work orders, and production instructions
• Identify the correct material, dimensions, and cutting requirements
• Measure and mark metal using tape measures, squares, and other measuring tools
• Select the proper blade, cutting speed, and machine settings for each job
• Set up and operate industrial band saws or similar cutting equipment
• Load and position raw material safely before cutting
• Inspect finished cuts for length, angle, and overall accuracy
• Label, organize, and move completed materials to the correct production area
• Monitor equipment for unusual sounds, wear, or performance issues
• Perform basic machine cleaning and routine maintenance
• Report damaged materials, equipment concerns, or quality issues
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards

Requirements

• Previous experience in manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or metalworking preferred
• Saw operation experience is helpful, but strong mechanical experience may be considered
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately, including fractions
• Basic blueprint-reading and shop-math skills
• Ability to understand cut lengths, angles, and material specifications
• Comfortable using hand tools and measuring equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to safely lift and move metal materials
• Comfortable standing, bending, reaching, and working on your feet throughout the shift
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
• Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a production team
• Safety-conscious mindset and ability to identify potential workplace hazards
