Full-Cycle Payroll Specialist
This is for a multistate Construction Company. The wage range is $24-$32 an hour!
Position Summary
We are searching for a part-time Payroll Specialist who is responsible for accurately processing weekly payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and municipal payroll regulations. This role requires strong knowledge of prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll reporting, wage calculations, and payroll compliance.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality while managing multiple priorities. This position works closely with employees, project managers, field supervisors, and the accounting team to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting. This position is 24 - 32 hours a week!
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Administration
- Process weekly payroll accurately and efficiently.
- Calculate regular wages, overtime, prevailing wage rates, fringe benefits, deductions, taxes, paid leave, and payroll adjustments.
- Process payroll changes, employee updates, garnishments, and other payroll-related deductions.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee documentation.
- Respond to employee payroll questions in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met.
Prevailing Wage & Certified Payroll Compliance
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for prevailing wage projects.
- Review wage classifications, wage determinations, and fringe benefit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and municipal prevailing wage regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
Reporting & Accounting Support
- Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with quarterly payroll tax reporting, year-end payroll processes, and W-2 preparation.
- Support payroll audits by maintaining organized records and documentation.
- Assist the accounting team with payroll-related reporting and financial processes.
Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate payroll information with project managers and field supervisors to ensure accurate job costing and employee classifications.
- Collaborate with internal teams regarding benefits, deductions, and payroll compliance matters.
- Build positive working relationships through professionalism, communication, and teamwork.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience.
- Experience processing prevailing wage payroll.
- Experience preparing certified payroll reports.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, wage calculations, taxes, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction industry payroll experience.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll.
- Knowledge of municipal prevailing wage requirements and fringe benefit regulations.
- Experience with Foundation Software or similar payroll/accounting systems.
