Shop Welder / Fitter (MIG Only)

Mesa / Apache Junction, AZ

This will be for a structural steel fabricator serving the East Valley and Greater Phoenix area. We are currently hiring a Shop Welder / Fitter with strong experience building columns and beams in a production shop environment.

Position Overview

This role is focused on fitting and welding structural steel components, specifically columns and beams, using MIG welding only. The ideal candidate can accurately read shop drawings, fit parts, and complete welds to spec with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Fit and build structural steel columns, beams, and frames from shop drawings
• Perform MIG welding (GMAW) on structural steel components
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and layouts
• Measure, cut, and assemble materials to precise tolerances
• Use shop equipment (saws, grinders, ironworkers, etc.)
• Ensure finished product meets quality and structural standards
• Maintain a safe and organized workspace

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience fitting and welding structural steel
• Strong experience with columns and beams fabrication
• Proficient in MIG welding only (no stick or flux-core required)
• Ability to read and work from shop drawings independently
• Solid layout, measuring, and fabrication skills
• Reliable, dependable, and team-oriented
