Conventional Machinist Responsibilities

As a Conventional Machinist, you will:

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, and other conventional machining equipment

• Machine and repair precision metal components to blueprint specifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders

• Measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools

• Perform threading, boring, drilling, facing, turning, and other machining operations

• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and tight tolerances

• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in safe operating condition

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Conventional Machinist, Manual Machinist, or Maintenance Machinist

• Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines

• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings

• Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, and precision measurements

• Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

• Engine lathes

• Bridgeport milling machines

• Hydraulic cylinder repair

• Thread cutting

• Metal fabrication

• Industrial manufacturing

• Machine shop operations
