We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Real Estate Bookkeeper with proven experience in the real estate industry. This role is responsible for managing financial records, maintaining accurate books, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations for our growing real estate business in Fayetteville, NC.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain accurate financial records for real estate transactions and operations
Handle accounts payable and receivable, including rent collections and vendor payments
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and escrow accounts
Maintain general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Process payroll and assist with tax preparation documentation
Track property-level financials, including income and expenses
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Collaborate with property managers, agents, and leadership team
Qualifications
Minimum of 3+ years bookkeeping experience, preferably in real estate or property management
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Experience with real estate accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, AppFolio, Buildium, or similar)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple accounts and deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Preferred Skills
Experience managing multiple properties or portfolios
Familiarity with trust/escrow accounting
Understanding of real estate transactions, commissions, and closing processes
