Express in looking for a Maintencance Mechanic This position involves the performance of semi-routine and diversified duties in connection with repairs to and maintenance of buildings and grounds requiring many skills found at the journeyman level such as carpentry for woodwork repairs, minor plumbing repairs, electrical work, painting work, and HVAC.  An aide is expected to help and have knowledge of and manual skills in repairing such items as plumbing and heating valves and pipes, electrical 
switches, stoves, and refrigerators; windows, doors, and other wood materials, mechanical equipment (e.g. snow blowers, power mowers, hedge clippers), and in carrying out a full set of maintenance duties, may be required to work under hazardous and adverse conditions such as sleet, snow, heat, sewage, cold, dust, and dirt. 

Required Duties:

• Able to perform a wide range of building and grounds repairs and maintenance 
  functions.
• Able to handle physical exertion frequently.
• Able to repair plumbing fixtures and pipes such as toilets, sinks, drains, valves, and 
  controls.
•  Able to dig ditches and holes to uncover leaks involving pipes and valves.
• Repair burner controls and switches, and rewire electrical ranges, and performs minor electrical work on refrigerators.  
• Able to repair or replace electrical switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, 
  fuses, etc.
• Repairs windows, doors, door frames, locks, and mailboxes 
• Repairs alarm systems, including controls 
• Able to perform repairs on equipment such as snow blowers, power mowers, hedge 
  clippers, and other pieces generally used by the maintenance force.  
• Check conditions of utility rooms, furnaces, and fans; make repairs to pumps and valves.  
• Inspect building for maintenance work to be done, usually as a result of a tenant request 
  or work order. 
• Able to carry out preventive maintenance repairs and required repairs of buildings and 
  fixtures and other PHA property.  
• Able to be on call to perform maintenance and repair assignments to equipment, 
  structures, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.  
• Able to perform with a wide range of hand tools and equipment such as drills, hammers, 
  pliers, electrical testers, hand and power saws, cutters, plungers, threads, wire brushes, 
  etc.

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

• Working knowledge of and skills applying knowledge in plumbing, electricity, heating, 
  carpentry, painting, and mechanical equipment.
• Have knowledge of tools and methods to be used in a wide range of building 
  maintenance work.  
• Have knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures.  
• Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.  Able to maintain acceptable working relationships with co-workers.  
• Able to work in hazardous and adverse conditions, such as sleet, snow, heat, cold, dust 
  and dirt, as well as cramped quarters and high places.
• Able to lift heavy objects into and out of trucks, or other carriers.
• Able to handle a variety of chemical compounds and solvents used in clean in cleaning 
  and in trades.
• Has knowledge regarding water and gas cutoffs, all apartments and fixtures cutoffs and 
  sewer cleanouts.  
• Able to perform general housekeeping duties in, on and around agency owned 
  properties.
• Able to maintain regular consistent attendance and perform work without direct 
  supervision. 
  Other tasks as needed. 

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

• Ability to perform physical labor and activity.  
• Ability drive to multiple offices and residential locations. 
•  Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.   

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License and provide proof of automobile 
  insurance/clean driving record.
• Ability to be covered under the CHA’s vehicle, liability, and fidelity insurance.  
•  Must be able to pass state and nationwide background check.

Schedule: 1st shift,
