Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Painter. In this role, you will be responsible for the surface preparation, masking, and high-quality spray application of primers, paints, and protective coatings onto custom and standard steel truck beds and bodies. The ideal candidate has experience working high pressure paint systems and takes pride in delivering a durable, flawless finish that meets high standards of excellence.
Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, grind, and degrease steel surfaces, welds, and components to ensure proper paint adhesion.
Masking & Protection: Tape and mask off areas, electrical components, and LED lighting structures that are not to be painted or coated.
Paint Mixing & Application: Mix primers, polyurethane paints, and specialized protective coatings according to manufacturer specifications and color matching standards.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain industrial airless or conventional spray guns, paint pumps, pressure pots, and ventilation systems.
Quality Control: Inspect finished units for paint thickness, runs, sags, unpainted areas, or surface imperfections and perform necessary touch-ups.
Maintenance & Safety: Safely clean and maintain paint booth equipment, spray guns, and tools. Strictly follow all OSHA, EPA, and internal safety protocols, including the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and respirators.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of material usage (paints, solvents, thinners) for compliance and inventory tracking.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in heavy truck, automotive, agricultural equipment, or structural steel industrial spray painting.
Technical Knowledge: Proficient in industrial spray techniques, polyurethane/epoxy paint systems, and the handling of hazardous materials.
Hand Tools: Strong mechanical aptitude and skill utilizing common hand and power tools (grinders, sanders).
Attention to Detail: Excellent color discernment and precise eye for identifying material defects or uneven coats.
Self-Management: Ability to work independently under minimal supervision while maintaining high production rates.
Lifting: Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs frequently.
Mobility: Constant standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching into confined or awkward positions (such as under frames).
Environment: Work is performed inside an active manufacturing plant and paint booth environment. Exposure to paint fumes, dust, and industrial noise levels requires mandatory protective gear (respirators, safety glasses, coveralls).
