The Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate records of heavy equipment, vehicles, parts, and materials entering and leaving the transfer yard. This role ensures inventory accuracy through regular inspections, data entry, tracking, and coordination with operations, transportation, and management teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in both an office and outdoor industrial environment.
Receive, inspect, and document incoming heavy equipment, machinery, attachments, and materials.
Verify equipment identification numbers, serial numbers, and shipment documentation.
Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management software and spreadsheets.
Track equipment movements, transfers, arrivals, and departures within the yard.
Perform routine inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
Reconcile discrepancies and investigate inventory variances.
Coordinate with dispatch, transportation, and operations personnel regarding equipment status and location.
Prepare inventory reports and provide updates to management.
Organize and maintain inventory files, shipping records, and transfer documentation.
Assist with equipment tagging, labeling, and asset tracking procedures.
Monitor yard inventory levels and report shortages, damaged equipment, or missing items.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures while working in the yard environment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
High school diploma or GED required.
Previous inventory control, warehouse, logistics, or equipment tracking experience preferred.
Experience working with heavy equipment, construction equipment, or industrial machinery is highly desirable.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and inventory management systems.
Excellent organizational and recordkeeping abilities.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, operators, vendors, and management.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Basic understanding of shipping and receiving procedures.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to walk extensive distances throughout the yard.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to climb onto and inspect heavy equipment when necessary.
Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the workday.
Knowledge of heavy equipment brands and models.
Experience with asset management or inventory tracking software.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Familiarity with transportation and logistics documentation.
This position operates in a busy heavy equipment transfer yard and office setting. Employees will interact regularly with truck drivers, equipment operators, mechanics, and management personnel while maintaining accurate inventory control of valuable company assets.
