The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Spacecraft Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, configuration, manufacturing, integration, and testing of spacecraft electrical power systems.

This is a highly hands-on engineering role where you will work across electrical hardware, system integration, manufacturing support, and automated testing. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing spacecraft electrical subsystems, executing test campaigns, troubleshooting complex electronics, and supporting the delivery of flight-ready hardware.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical System Design & Configuration

  • Work with Systems Engineers to capture and interpret spacecraft and subsystem requirements.
  • Configure spacecraft electrical power systems to meet mission-specific requirements.
  • Support the development and maintenance of electrical schematics and system documentation.
  • Manage PCB assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOMs) while maintaining configuration control and traceability.

Manufacturing & Integration

  • Collaborate with internal technicians and external manufacturing partners to build and integrate electrical subsystems.
  • Support subsystem manufacturing activities and resolve technical issues during production.
  • Become the subject matter expert for spacecraft electrical power system configuration, manufacturing, and troubleshooting.

Testing & Validation

  • Define test requirements in collaboration with Electrical, Systems, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Plan, develop, and execute test campaigns for avionics hardware, including:
    • Analog and digital circuits
    • Microcontroller-based systems
    • Computing modules
    • Power electronics
  • Develop automated test scripts and validation workflows to improve efficiency and coverage.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment as required.

Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues during integration and system bring-up.
  • Conduct detailed failure investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Recommend corrective actions and design improvements to enhance system performance and reliability.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in electronics development, hardware testing, or system integration.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Analog circuit design
    • Digital electronics
    • Microcontroller-based systems
    • Power electronics
  • Experience developing, executing, and automating hardware test procedures.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment including:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Multimeters
    • Power supplies
    • Electronic loads
  • Experience with Altium Designer or similar PCB design software.
  • Scripting language experience for test automation or engineering applications, Python experience is a strong asset
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause investigation skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred

  • Aerospace, satellite, or space hardware development experience.
  • Familiarity with automated test frameworks and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
  • Exposure to environmental testing, including thermal, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing.
