JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for manually stacking finished concrete roof tiles onto pallets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Boral Roofing policies and procedures

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Remove finish tiles from the production line and stack them according to procedure on pallets for final packaging and shipping
  • Inspect finished tiles as they are being removed for any quality defects, such as cracks, broken pieces, proper EP coverage, and color inconsistencies. Remove and reject those defective tiles.
  • When stacking, count the tiles on the pallet to ensure that the pallets contain the proper amount of tile and that they attacked straight with no overhanging tiles on the second tier, and no tiles overhanging the edges of the pallets.
  • Ensure that no tile gets around the production line and into the chain machine
  • When banding tile ensure that all straps are tight and properly placed
  • Monitor and correct housekeeping problems in the stacking area by picking up or sweeping up any fallen material and wiping up or sweeping up any grease or liquids spills during production operations
  • Perform assigned cleanup duties as swiftly and completely as possible.
  • Log and report rejection reasons for bad tiles
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area ensuring LOTO procedures are adhered to prior to repairing any damage throughout the day
  • Operate electric pallet jack to move hoppers
  • All other duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, and company manuals and procedures.
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Good communication skills and ability to read, speak, write English (bilingual Spanish helpful)
  • Ability to observe, identify, deduce and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
  • Quick learner and ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Math skills and computer skills
  • Ability to attention to details

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

  • High School Diploma highly desirable but not required
  • 1 year of related experience required - in a manufacturing environment preferred but willing to train

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

The employee should possess the ability to:

 

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
