High End Prep Cook 

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Prep Cook to support our client's culinary team at a high-end winery in St. Helena. This role is essential in maintaining the quality and consistency of our food offerings, ensuring all ingredients are prepared with precision to support elevated, seasonal menus that complement our wines and guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients according to chef specifications, including washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring
• Maintain consistent quality and presentation standards aligned with the winery’s upscale culinary program
• Assist chefs with basic cooking tasks such as sauces, stocks, and garnishes
• Ensure all food preparation areas meet cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards (FIFO, proper labeling, storage)
• Receive and inspect deliveries, ensuring product quality and proper storage
• Maintain organized and well-stocked prep stations throughout service
• Collaborate with culinary team to support tastings, events, and seasonal menu changes
• Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of kitchen equipment

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or prep cook experience preferred, ideally in a fine dining, winery, or hospitality setting
• Strong knife skills and understanding of basic culinary techniques
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-standard environment
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and special events
