Forklift Operator (Shipping & Receiving)

Location: Union, NJ
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Schedule: Monday - Friday | Full-Time | Overtime Available

Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator for a growing manufacturing and distribution company in Union, NJ. This position is ideal for someone with strong forklift skills, shipping and receiving experience, and the ability to safely move large or oversized products throughout the warehouse.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, computer savvy, and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate sit-down forklifts to load, unload, and transport materials throughout the warehouse

• Receive incoming shipments and verify products against packing slips and purchase orders

• Prepare and stage outgoing shipments for carriers and customer pickups

• Move oversized or heavy products safely throughout the facility

• Maintain accurate inventory by scanning, labeling, and organizing materials

• Assist with shipping documentation, bills of lading, and packing lists

• Perform routine inventory counts and assist with cycle counting

• Inspect forklifts before each shift and report any maintenance issues

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment

• Work closely with warehouse, production, and office personnel to ensure timely order fulfillment

• Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of forklift operating experience

• Previous shipping and receiving experience required

• Experience handling large or oversized materials

• Basic computer skills for inventory transactions and shipping documentation

• Ability to accurately read packing slips, work orders, and shipping paperwork

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

• High school diploma or GED preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift certification (or ability to become certified)

• Experience with ERP or inventory management software such as Epicor, QuickBooks Enterprise, NetSuite, SAP, or similar

• Manufacturing or industrial warehouse experience

• Experience using RF scanners

• Valid driver's license

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed

• Stand, walk, bend, twist, and lift throughout the workday

• Safely operate forklifts for extended periods

• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
