Inventory Clerk

Location: Luzerne, PA 
Pay Rate: $18/hr
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM


Position Summary

The Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and movement of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods within a manufacturing environment. This role supports production by ensuring material availability, tracking inventory levels, and assisting with audits and inventory reconciliation.

In addition, this position will occasionally support operations as a backup Non-CDL Driver to cover call-offs or business needs, ensuring timely and safe delivery or pickup of materials.


Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and document incoming raw materials and components
  • Issue materials to the production floor based on job requirements
  • Perform routine cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP or inventory system
  • Label, organize, and store materials using FIFO or other inventory methods
  • Communicate shortages, discrepancies, or issues to appropriate teams
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and audit preparation
  • Ensure proper material handling and adherence to safety standards
  • Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed
  • Collaborate with shipping and receiving to support smooth material flow
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for inventory transactions (receipts, transfers, returns)
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for inventory and warehouse organization

Additional Responsibility:

  • Serve as a backup Non-CDL Driver when needed due to call-offs or operational demands
  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials between locations or to customers/vendors
  • Perform basic vehicle checks and follow all traffic laws and company driving policies

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years of inventory control experience, preferably in manufacturing or fabrication
  • Experience with ERP or inventory systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of inventory control processes and best practices
  • Familiarity with materials used in manufacturing or fabrication environments
  • Ability to read work orders, packing slips, and inventory reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling throughout the shift
  • Continuous use of hands for handling materials, tools, and equipment
  • Regular lifting up to 10 lbs, frequent lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Visual acuity to read documentation and inspect materials
  • Ability to work safely around moving equipment with strong situational awareness
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection
