Press Brake Operator (Sheet Metal Fabrication)

Location: Luzerne, PA 
Payrate: Starting at $18/hr
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM


Position Summary

The Press Brake Operator is responsible for the safe setup and operation of press brake equipment to bend, form, and fabricate sheet metal components according to engineering specifications and production schedules. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate press brake machines based on work instructions, blueprints, and job specifications
  • Perform first-piece inspections, in-process checks, and assist with second-person verification of set-ups
  • Complete quality documentation and inspection sheets for each job
  • Maintain a strong safety-first mindset, following all safety protocols and wearing required PPE at all times
  • Conduct routine daily maintenance of machines and tooling
  • Read and interpret production schedules, work orders, and technical drawings to ensure accuracy
  • Monitor production for quality and efficiency, making adjustments as needed
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to improve workflow and productivity
  • Maintain punctuality and reliability with consistent attendance

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous press brake operation or similar metal fabrication experience preferred
  • Vocational or technical training in manufacturing or machine operation is a plus

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and production documentation
  • Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers, protractors, and height gauges
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling throughout the shift
  • Continuous use of hands for handling tools, controls, and metal components
  • Regular lifting up to 10 lbs, frequent lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity required
  • Visual acuity to read prints and inspect parts for precision and quality
  • Ability to work safely around moving mechanical equipment with constant awareness
