Overall responsibilities and duties:

The role of a Facility Maintenance Technician is to participate in the Total and Preventive Maintenance (TPM) for all equipment and facilities.

The main missions of the role are:

o    Install, repair and maintain all equipment and facilities

o    Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality

o    Try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime

o    Record operational data, such as pressure readings, length of stroke, feeds and speeds for use in set-up and preventive maintenance records

o    Review production schedule and, when equipment is not scheduled for production, perform scheduled maintenance

o    Participate in Production System Efficiency and Quality System Efficiency workshops to support continuous improvement: propose and implement continuous productivity, process and quality improvement actions for all facilities

o    Facilitate equipment moves on the shop floor – air, power, gas and water

o    Give advice on technical specifications of new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities, making sure manufacturing, maintainability and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are met

o    Complete electrical repairs

o    Participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime

o    Maintain and clean cooling fans in each GAP area

o    Keep up to date documentation related to maintenance

o    Submit/implement at least two Continuous Improvement ideas per month

o    Maintain Indoor and Outdoor Lighting

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have/be: be results oriented, actively participate in work teams, and be willing to work required overtime. Candidates must also possess good communication skills demonstrated by their ability to communicate with employees at all levels.

Minimum education level: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical diploma with specialization is preferred.

 

 

Experience:

o    3+ years of maintenance/engineering experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

o    Proven experience undertaking tasks of substantial variety or complexity that require extensive knowledge of fabrication/processing techniques, tools materials, machines and equipment.

o    Working knowledge of quality system, health safety and environmental skills

Physical Requirements:

 

o    Exposed to heat in the summer and cold in the winter.

o    Job involves lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, exerts 25 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and exerts up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  Requires pushing, pulling, reaching standing walking and bending.

o    Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action.

o    Steel-toed shoes required in production area due to physical hazards from moving equipment, machine parts, and product.

o    Safety glasses required in production area due to dust, oils and cutting fluids.

o    Gloves required in production work due to exposure to oils, cutting fluids, hot welded parts, and sharp metal materials.

o    Ear protection required in production area due to high noise levels from machines.

o    Safety anti-cut sleeves required in production areas.
