Helper / Fire Watch

Pay: $16.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire

This position includes 10 hours of mandatory overtime each week, paid at $24.00/hour, providing excellent earning potential.

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Helper / Fire Watch to support industrial installation projects and welding operations. This role is responsible for assisting crews with daily construction and installation activities while maintaining a dedicated fire watch during welding and cutting operations.

The ideal candidate is dependable, able to follow directions, comfortable working in industrial environments, and committed to maintaining a safe worksite.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Watch Duties

• Monitor work areas during welding and cutting operations.
• Watch for sparks, fire hazards, and unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a safe work environment and immediately report hazards.
• Complete all required Fire Watch documentation.

Helper Duties

• Set up work areas with tools, materials, and equipment as directed by the Foreman.
• Assist with industrial installation projects.
• Run parts, tools, and materials throughout the jobsite.
• Perform work area and tool clean-up.
• Support crews with daily labor tasks and project needs.
• Follow all Job Safety Assessments (JSAs) and site-specific safety requirements.
• Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to arrive at the jobsite on time and ready to work each day.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Ability to complete required online orientation and safety training.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with site personnel.
• Ability to follow instructions quickly and safely.
• Must wear safety-toe boots and comply with all jobsite dress and safety requirements.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous construction, industrial, warehouse, or manufacturing experience.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Willingness to be trained and certified on forklift operation.
• Experience working around welding, fabrication, or industrial installation projects is helpful but not required.
