FRP Technician (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics)

Position Summary

A confidential marine manufacturing client is seeking an FRP Technician to support the fabrication, repair, and finishing of fiberglass components used in marine vessel construction. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiberglass layup, lamination, trimming, grinding, and finishing operations.
• Prepare molds, materials, and work surfaces for production.
• Mix and apply resins, gel coats, and fiberglass materials according to specifications.
• Inspect completed parts for quality, defects, and dimensional accuracy.
• Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and production schedules.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and PPE usage.
• Report quality concerns, equipment issues, and material shortages.
• Participate in continuous improvement and training initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous fiberglass, composite, manufacturing, boat building, or related experience preferred.
• Ability to read measuring devices and follow technical instructions.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, and chemical odors.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
