We have an opening for a Manual MIG Pipe Welder position working at a contract manufacturing facility located in Decatur, AL. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.

Skills/Qualifications

Minimum of two years of pipe welding experience.

Ability to perform essential duties.

Must be able to set up and adjust the MIG welding parameters and maintain tools such as grinders, torches and welding guns.

Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding weld symbols.

Attention to detail for creating leak-proof, high-pressure welds.

Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.

Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of technical school is preferred.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

Perform high-quality, manual MIG (GMAW) welding on pipe and pipe assemblies.

Read and interprets, technical drawings and welding procedures to determine pipe specifications, angles, and welding requirements.

Perform visual inspections of welds for defects (cracks, porosity, lack of fusion) and use tools such as gauges to ensure adherence to quality standards.

Bevel, clean and fit-up pipes, ensuring accurate alignment and proper root openings before tacking and welding.

Ability to diagnose and fix minor issues with welding equipment.

Strictly follow safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE (welding helmet, safety glasses and gloves), ensuring light curtains/safety gates are functioning, and reporting near-misses.
