Job Duties

As a Railroad Tie Production Associate, you will:

• Work directly with treated wood railroad ties throughout the production process
• Remove steel spacer rods from treated tie bundles
• Operate air benders to package railroad ties into truck-ready bundles
• Use a tie pick to properly space ties during stacking and bundling operations
• Install steel end plates onto finished railroad ties
• Operate electric drills and drilling equipment to create holes in treated ties
• Position plates and spikes onto drilled ties for assembly
• Use hammers to set spikes into railroad ties
• Operate a jackhammer-style tool to drive spikes to required specifications
• Follow production schedules and safety procedures
• Assist with general manufacturing and production duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, crouch, reach, push, and pull regularly
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
• Stable work history preferred
• Previous experience in manufacturing, lumber yards, construction, railroad production, general labor, landscaping, or industrial settings is helpful but not required
