Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting/Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. This role is essential in managing comprehensive payroll processes, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, and supporting various accounting functions across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of payroll management, accounting software, and financial concepts, contributing to the smooth operation of our financial and human resources systems. Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and efficiently using payroll management systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro.
  • Maintain and update employee records related to compensation, benefits administration, and tax information.
  • Reconcile payroll data with accounting records through general ledger reconciliation and account analysis.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable transactions utilizing accounting software like QuickBooks or PeopleSoft.
  • Prepare journal entries for payroll expenses, benefits costs, and other financial transactions in accordance with double entry bookkeeping principles.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities including account reconciliation, data entry, and financial reporting.
  • Support compliance with tax regulations by preparing tax filings and maintaining relevant documentation.
  • Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate benefits administration and employee data management.
  • Perform detailed analysis of payroll reports to identify discrepancies or errors for prompt resolution.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and financial information while ensuring data accuracy.

Skills

  • Proficiency with payroll management systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or Kronos.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks, Ceridian, UltiPro, or similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of corporate accounting principles, including general ledger accounting, journal entries, debits & credits.
  • Experience with non-profit accounting and governmental accounting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll and benefits administration.
  • Excellent analysis skills for financial data interpretation and problem-solving.
  • Competence in data entry accuracy using 10 key typing skills.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems for employee data management.
  • Ability to perform account reconciliation and process accounts payable/receivable efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks such as double entry bookkeeping and technical accounting procedures.
