General Laborer (Road Construction)

Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
Duration: Approximately 9 months

Start Date: June 22 (Temporary Contract)

Location: Jefferson, TX (Hwy 59)

Position Summary

We are seeking motivated and dependable General Laborers to support road construction projects. This position involves performing a variety of tasks related to site preparation, concrete work, equipment operation, and traffic control. Candidates must be able to work outdoors, follow safety procedures, and adapt to changing job site needs.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday (Saturdays may be required)
• Start Time: 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• End Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• Hours are subject to weather conditions and project needs

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties on road construction projects.
• Grade and level earth using hand tools such as picks and shovels.
• Assist with mixing, pouring, and spreading concrete.
• Spray water, curing compounds, and other construction materials as needed.
• Operate small equipment and tools, including:
  • Water pumps
  • Portable generators
  • Portable sprayers
  • Power tools and hand tools
• Assist with traffic control and work zone barricade placement.
• Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
• Perform various tasks as assigned with minimal supervision.

Required Safety Equipment

• Type 3 Safety Vest
• Hard Hat
• Ear Plugs
• ANSI-Approved Safety Glasses
• Closed-toe work boots (safety toe not required; no sneakers or open-toed shoes)

Qualifications

• Previous construction or outdoor labor experience preferred.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety and following job site procedures.
