Field Machinist

Located in San Diego, CA

Salary: $100,000+ Annually (DOE)

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform precision machining operations at customer sites and field locations
• Maintain tight tolerances while working in challenging environments
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized machining equipment
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to develop solutions
• Utilize precision measuring equipment to verify quality and accuracy
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and procedures
• Complete project documentation, timekeeping, and expense reporting

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of manual machining and/or field machining experience
• Strong experience operating Bridgeport knee mills and manual engine lathes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
• Proficient with micrometers, calipers, and precision inspection tools
• Experience with rigging equipment and power tools
• Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, materials, speeds, and feeds
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• High school diploma or GED required
• Technical school training or Journeyman-level experience preferred

Required Certifications & Licenses:

• OSHA 10 Certification
• Valid Driver's License
• Forklift Certification preferred
• Ability to obtain and maintain required equipment certifications

• Adaptability in fast-paced and changing environments
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Strong commitment to quality and safety

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Extensive travel throughout the United States and occasional international travel
• Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and lifting
• Ability to lift and move equipment as required
• Availability to travel on short notice, including some weekends
• Comfortable using mobile applications for timekeeping and expense reporting
