Wire EDM Operator and Programmer

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Wire EDM Operator & Programmer to join a precision manufacturing team in San Diego. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining Wire EDM equipment to produce high-precision components that meet engineering and quality specifications. The ideal candidate has a strong machining background, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with tight tolerances in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program, set up, and operate Wire EDM machines to manufacture precision components
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T requirements, and job travelers
• Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM software and/or manual programming methods
• Select appropriate wire, guides, power settings, and machining parameters
• Perform machine setups, fixturing, and part alignment
• Monitor machining operations and make process adjustments as needed
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment
• Maintain strict quality standards and tolerance requirements
• Troubleshoot machine, programming, and process issues
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean work area
• Document production data, inspection results, and program revisions
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve manufacturing processes

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Technical school or machining certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Wire EDM programming and operating experience
• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and EDM processes
• Proficient in reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T
• Experience using CAM software such as Mastercam, Esprit, or similar platforms
• Familiarity with Wire EDM equipment from major manufacturers
• Ability to maintain extremely tight tolerances
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in aerospace, medical device, tooling, or precision manufacturing environments
• Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection experience
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
• Experience programming complex contours, multiple-pass operations, and fine surface finishes
