Port Clerk Job Summary A Port Clerk is responsible for supporting port operations through accurate documentation, coordination, and administrative tasks. This role ensures smooth cargo movement, compliance with regulations, and effective communication between internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, process, and verify import/export documentation.
Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs agents, and port staff.
Update cargo tracking systems and databases.
Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and port requirements.
Assist customers with cargo status and documentation inquiries.
Prepare activity reports for management.
Resolve documentation or cargo discrepancies.
Perform general clerical and administrative duties as needed.
Typical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; logistics or supply chain education is a plus.
Experience in port operations, logistics, or documentation.
Strong understanding of import/export procedures.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency with computers and MS Office.
Ability to work independently and in a fast‑paced environment.
