Laser Machine Operator

Multiple Shifts Available: Day, Swing & Weekend

Day Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Swing Shift: Monday - Thursday, 4:15 PM - 2:45 AM

Weekend Shift: Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 5:00 PM - 5:30 AM

Primary Purpose: 

Provides the setup, operation and maintenance of Laser cutting machines. Plans for the efficient operation of the laser
and works with the Laser Programmer to coordinate the laser production in an efficient manner. Ability to fulfill
general Warehouse and Processor duties as assigned or needed.

Essential Job Functions: 

The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient
manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying
additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits. The amount of time performing each function may
vary day-to-day. All duties shall be performed in an efficient and professional manner in accordance with the
company policies and under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor. Load and unload material from auto loader, using forklift.

  • Clean lens, align and change nozzle.
  • Operate forklifts.
  • Load, edit and delete programs.
  • Measure parts with tape, calipers, mics, radius gauges, square and protractor.
  • Read prints or digital files to ensure part conforms to customer's design.
  • Adjust parameters to ensure optimal cut quality.
  • Properly identify and process paperwork necessary for material handling and production recording in
    metalware.
  • Properly & accurately fill out inspection and daily Laser log.
  • General maintenance and cleaning of Laser as assigned.
  • Properly identify for traceability purposes and put away rem drops daily.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work area.
  • Good attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Perform other necessary duties and tasks as requested.

Required Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on laser machine operation experience, including setup, cutting, and basic
    troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with laser cutting processes, including nozzle changes, lens cleaning, and parameter adjustments.
  • Forklift experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and digital part files with accuracy.
  • Computer literacy sufficient for loading, editing, and managing CNC/laser programs.
  • Strong measurement skills using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and related tools.

Working Environment: 

This position works in a manufacturing and laser-processing environment. The role involves operating laser cutting
equipment, handling sheet metal, and performing precision cutting tasks on the production floor. The area may be
temperature-controlled, though localized heat can occur near operating lasers and material-handling systems. Noise
levels are consistent due to laser machines, ventilation systems, and forklift activity. Employees may encounter metal
dust, fumes from cutting operations, and typical fabrication-related odors. The production floor includes moving
machinery and forklift traffic, requiring awareness and safe movement. Required PPE includes safety glasses,
hearing protection, gloves, and closed-toe footwear. Additional PPE may be needed for certain tasks. Reasonable

position.

Job Related Physical Demands: 

  • Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner while wearing appropriate and required personal
    protective equipment. Follow all safety regulations and protocols. Demonstrate knowledge and
    understanding of proper body mechanic/ergonomics and use correct body position/mechanics, tools,
    or work aids to work, move, maneuver, guide, or place objects or materials.
  • Maintain sufficient and consistent mobility and agility to respond to issues, hazards, safety concerns,
    workplace disruptions, and emergencies involving tools, equipment, other team members, and
    guests.
  • Operate laser machines, auto-loaders, measurement tools, and computer-based systems with
    accuracy.
  • Lift, carry, and maneuver materials, tooling, and components up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 20 lbs.
    regularly, including standing, bending, and reaching throughout the shift in a temperature‑controlled
    shop.

Further Job Requirements: 

Must possess a reliable means of transportation to and from work. Work overtime as needed to process expedited
programs or maintain machine productivity.
