Job Title: Cook

Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. This position plays an important role in ensuring residents receive quality meals that meet dietary guidelines and promote overall well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary requirements.

• Ensure food is prepared, stored, and served in compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, work areas, and food storage areas.

• Monitor food inventory and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.

• Properly store and label food items to maintain freshness and prevent waste.

• Assist with meal planning and portion control.

• Follow all food safety procedures and guidelines.

• Work cooperatively with staff and residents to provide excellent meal service.

• Maintain accurate records as required.

Qualifications:

• Previous cooking experience in a commercial kitchen, cafeteria, shelter, nursing home, or similar environment preferred.

• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safety practices.

• Ability to prepare meals for large groups.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.

• Food Handler Certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.

Work Environment:
This position works in a kitchen setting and may require standing, bending, lifting, and exposure to hot surfaces and kitchen equipment.

Schedule:
Schedules may vary and may include weekends and holidays as needed.

DOE (Dependent on Experience)
