Job Title: Bookkeeper

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of a growing non-profit organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting skills with a passion for supporting a cause-driven organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and donor contributions
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and other financial accounts on a regular basis
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Support budget preparation and monitor actuals vs. budget
  • Prepare financial reports for leadership, board members, and grantors
  • Ensure compliance with applicable non-profit accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, fund accounting principles)
  • Assist with audits and preparation of financial documentation for external auditors
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation for transparency and compliance
  • Support payroll processing and related reporting (if applicable)

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (non-profit experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and fund accounting
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong integrity and ability to handle confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a non-profit environment
  • Familiarity with grant tracking and donor reporting requirements
  • Experience with payroll systems and compliance reporting
