Human Resources Business Partner / Labor Relations Specialist

Pay: $40–$43/hr
Location: Alcoa, TN (onsite at a well‑known industrial plant)

 

Position Overview

A well‑known industrial plant in Alcoa, TN is partnering with Express Employment Professionals to hire an experienced HR Generalist / HR Business Partner with strong labor‑relations expertise. This role provides guidance, counsel, and strategic HR support across Operations, Maintenance, and Staff functions, working closely with both leadership and union representatives.

You’ll serve as a trusted advisor on labor relations, HR policies, employee engagement, job progression, investigations, compliance, and workforce planning, helping drive a productive, compliant, and engaged workplace.

Key Responsibilities

• HR Advisory Support — Advise Operations, Maintenance, and Staff teams on labor relations, workforce planning, recruitment, inclusion & diversity, performance management, compensation, and talent development.
• CBA & Policy Interpretation — Assist management with interpreting the Collective Bargaining Agreement and HR policies; guide leaders on HR procedures and programs.
• Employee Relations & Investigations — Respond to grievances, review disciplinary actions, conduct investigations, resolve employee issues, prepare for arbitration, and participate in union negotiations.
• Legal & Compliance Oversight — Maintain knowledge of employment laws, reduce legal risk, and partner with legal teams as needed.
• Workplace Culture & Engagement — Strengthen work relationships, build morale, and support retention and productivity initiatives.
• HR Strategy Execution — Support implementation of company‑wide HR strategies and ensure consistent HR process administration.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned to meet business needs.

Required Experience

• 3+ years in an HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, or Labor Relations role within manufacturing.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Familiarity with HR systems (Oracle, Workbrain preferred) or ability to learn quickly.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to influence and build trust across all organizational levels.
• Data‑driven mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available).

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Organizational Development, or a related field.
