Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to support healthcare operations through accurate coding, billing, and claims management. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate patient records, ensuring timely insurance reimbursements, and supporting an efficient revenue cycle process. This position is ideal for someone who is knowledgeable in medical coding practices and committed to maintaining compliance and accuracy in healthcare documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments using established coding systems.
  • Review medical records and provider documentation to verify coding accuracy and completeness.
  • Process and submit insurance claims through electronic medical record systems.
  • Monitor claim status and follow up on denied, rejected, or unpaid claims to resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, coding updates, and collection efforts.
  • Stay informed about coding regulations, insurance guidelines, and industry compliance standards.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy.
  • Support revenue cycle management efforts by ensuring claims are submitted correctly and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or a healthcare administrative role.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Knowledge of medical coding systems, including CPT, ICD, and DRG classifications.
  • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) or electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret medical documentation accurately.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing procedures, claims processing, and collections.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
