Job Title: Industrial Painter

Job Summary

The Industrial Painter is responsible for applying coatings, paints, and finishes to manufactured parts, components, and equipment. This role ensures products meet quality standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial coating systems, surface preparation, and manufacturing processes, and maintains a strong focus on detail and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, or blasting as required
  • Remove dirt, grease, rust, and old coatings to ensure proper adhesion
  • Mask or tape areas not to be painted

Painting & Coating Application

  • Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using spray guns, rollers, or brushes
  • Mix and match paints according to specifications and manufacturer guidelines
  • Ensure proper thickness, consistency, and finish of coatings
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment such as spray booths and compressors

Inspection & Quality Control

  • Inspect completed work for defects such as runs, streaks, or incomplete coverage
  • Ensure finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications
  • Perform touch-ups or rework as necessary

Maintenance & Safety

  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials
  • Properly store paints, solvents, and chemicals
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

General Production Support

  • Coordinate with production teams to meet deadlines and workflow requirements
  • Assist with moving materials and parts within the facility
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used and work completed

 

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of experience in industrial painting or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and coating processes
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Preferred

  • Experience with spray painting systems (airless, HVLP, electrostatic)
  • Knowledge of industrial coatings (epoxy, polyurethane, powder coating)
  • Familiarity with surface preparation techniques such as sandblasting
  • OSHA safety training or certifications
