Assistant / Front Desk (Temporary – Leave Coverage)

Location: Tualatin
Assignment Duration: Immediate start through August 20, 2026
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay: $20-$25 DOE

Position Overview

Shields Manufacturing is seeking a reliable and professional HR Assistant / Front Desk Coordinator to provide temporary coverage during a maternity leave. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of administrative, HR support, and front-facing responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Front Desk / Reception

  • Great and direct visitors, customers, and contractors
  • Maintain visitor logs, issue badges, and ensure ITAR compliance procedures are followed
  • Manage voicemail and distribute messages appropriately
  • Keep the reception area clean, organized, and professional

HR Support

  • Coordinate and schedule interviews; communicate with hiring teams and candidates
  • Assist with new hire onboarding, including paperwork and orientation facilitation
  • Enter and maintain employee data in the HRIS system
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of employee records
  • Update employee training records

Administrative & Office Support

  • Prepare daily and weekly reports
  • Support company events and participate in the events committee
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and take minutes as needed
  • Tidy and prepare conference rooms
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous administrative, receptionist, or HR support experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Proficiency with basic office software (Microsoft Office, email, etc.)
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Professional demeanor and attention to detail
