About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Precision Machinist to join a growing manufacturing team in Ventura. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality, close-tolerance components while working with precision machining equipment and inspection tools.

The successful candidate will have strong setup and operation experience on Brown & Sharpe equipment or similar manual machining equipment, along with the ability to read blueprints, perform precision measurements, and maintain strict quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities

Machining Operations

Set up and operate Brown & Sharpe machines and other manual machining equipment.
Review blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
Select proper tooling, fixtures, and machine settings for each job.
Produce precision components while maintaining tight tolerances and quality specifications.
Verify dimensions and product quality throughout the machining process.

Quality Control

Perform inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
Identify and address dimensional issues or quality concerns.
Complete required inspection records and production documentation.
Maintain compliance with company quality standards and customer specifications.

Production Support

Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
Work closely with production, inspection, and engineering teams to meet deadlines and production goals.
Assist with tooling changes, machine adjustments, and setup optimization.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency and quality.

Team & Safety

Follow all workplace safety procedures and manufacturing best practices.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist in training and supporting less experienced machinists when needed.
Contribute to a positive team environment focused on quality and productivity.

Qualifications

Required

Minimum 2 years of machining experience operating Brown & Sharpe equipment or similar manual machining machinery.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Experience working with precision measuring instruments.
Strong understanding of shop mathematics, including geometry and basic trigonometry.
Knowledge of machining practices, tooling selection, and material characteristics.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred

Experience with jig borers, grinders, lathes, mills, or other precision machining equipment.
Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Experience performing first article inspections.
Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
Aerospace, defense, medical device, or high-precision manufacturing experience.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to work safely around industrial machinery and equipment.
